## What's New

### Duplicate: retrieve the master record ID

Use this function to identify the record that remains after a merge.

#### Function

Use this function to identify the master record before updating pair members and merging duplicates.

**Inputs:** The Salesforce record IDs for both duplicate records and the Duplicate Setting ID. The Duplicate Setting defines the selection rules.

**Output:** The master record ID.

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```apex
delpha.DDQ_DuplicateApi.getMaster('[RecordId1]', '[RecordId2]', '[DuplicateSettingId]');
```

{% endcode %}

#### How to use it

1. Select the duplicate records to process. This step is required for bulk updates.

{% code overflow="wrap" %}

```sql
SELECT Id, delpha__RecordId__c, delpha__MatchedRecordId__c
FROM delpha__DDQ_DuplicateRecord__c
WHERE delpha__Processed__c = false
  AND (delpha__Status__c = 'Steward Yes' OR delpha__Status__c = 'Auto Yes')
```

{% endcode %}

2. Get the Duplicate Setting ID.
   * In the Delpha Setup app, open the Duplicate Setting to apply.
   * Copy the Duplicate Setting ID from the URL.
3. Call `getMaster` with `delpha__RecordId__c`, `delpha__MatchedRecordId__c`, and the Duplicate Setting ID.

#### Notes

* Batch calls support a maximum batch size of 100.
* The calling user needs a valid **Delpha License** and the **Delpha Admin Permission Set Group**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.delpha.io/delpha-for-salesforce/delpha-upgrade/upgrade-tasks/build-3.92.x/build-3.92.0-04trl000001xnybiaa.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
