# Creating a New Duplicate Detection Setting

### Overview

Before configuring detailed rules, you must create a "container" for your settings. This allows you to manage [multiple duplicate strategies for the same object ](/delpha-for-salesforce/use-cases-setup/duplicate/duplicate-detection/multi-settings-and-scope.md)(e.g., one for "US Accounts" and another for "EU Accounts").

### Step-by-Step Creation

1. In the Delpha Setup menu, go to Duplicates section.
2. Add New Setting: Click the Add New + menu item.
3. Define the Setting: A "Create Record" modal will appear. Fill in the following fields:
   * Duplicate Settings Name: Give your setting a clear, descriptive name (e.g., *"Account - Global Detection"* or *"Leads"*).
   * Object Name: Select the Salesforce object you want to analyze from the dropdown menu.
     * *Options:* `Account`, `Contact`, `Lead`.
     * *Cross-Object:* Select `Lead vs Contact` to detect if a Lead already exists as a Contact in your org.
4. Select a Template (Recommended): when prompted, choose to rely on a Template.
